This is the story of
Peanut and Sugar on a hot summer day...

Peanut Butter Cookie and Sugar Cookie, his sister, and the Count and the Cowboy went out the back door to play. It was a hot summer day and the sun was at its highest place in the sky. There were no clouds.

The two younger bulldog brothers, the Count and the Cowboy, got a big drink of water and hid under the 'Puppy-mobile' to keep cool. Even that was too hot so they came inside to their beds and sprawled out and took a nap.

Peanut stayed outside in the back yard looking for Sugar. Sugar was in the cool grass next to the flower garden. Peanut called to Sugar, "Let's do something..."

Sugar answered, "Okay! What do you want to do?"

Peanut thought a minute. He was hot AND thirsty! "Let's play in the pool!"

Peanut and Sugar asked if they could play in the pool together. "Please. Please." They said.

I filled the kiddy pool half way with cool water. And the two bully puppies played very nicely for about 30 seconds. Then Peanut got out and rolled in the dust and got very dirty! He ran and jumped back into the pool and hollered, "Cannon Ball!" in his big outdoor voice. The water and dirt splashed poor little Sugar. They just sat there laughing -- two big mud puppies!
