This is the story of Peanut Butter Cookie and Thunder and Lightning!
Yesterday afternoon, a big truck rumbled down the county road making a noise as loud as thunder!
Peanut raced to the safety of his daddy's arms. I said, "Peanut, it's okay... It's only a truck."
His little voice said, "I thought it was the thunder like last night."
"Tell me all about it, Peanut", I said.
"Well... last night I got real hungry and went into the kitchen for a midnight snack...
And the rain started and then I saw lightning and the thunder was so loud that I ran back to bed and hid my head under my pillow!"
|
Then I told Peanut that he was very safe in his bed.
"Here's how to tell how far away the lightning and thunder is, Peanut...
When you see the lightning, start saying 'It's one mile away. It's two miles away. It's three miles away.'
When you hear the thunder, stop counting and that's how far away the lightning is."
But Peanut said, "I'd rather hide in my bed."
