Peanut Drinks Some Cool Water!

"Let's go check on the goldfish, Peanut," I said. "The temperature was 15 degrees last night and the fish pool might have frozen."

The fish pool had ice about an inch thick except where the fountain was. Peanut checked out the pool. "Dad! What's this wire? It's going into the water," he said.

I replied, "The wire sends the electricity to the fountain pump."

"Why?"

"The fountain stirs up the water and prevents the water from freezing. Plus, the fountain also adds oxygen to the water so the goldfish can breathe."



 

"Are the goldfish still alive?" asked Peanut.

"Yes, Peanut, but they are moving very slowly," I answered. "Goldfish are cold blooded creatures that can live in really cold water."

Peanut leaned over the edge of the pool and took a drink. "BRRRR! That's cold! I can't believe that the fish can swim in water that cold!" he said.

Then Peanut started to laugh. "Why are you laughing, Peanut?"

"I was going to go get the goldfish some mittens but that wouldn't help! They don't have any fingers!"

Sometimes Peanut is so silly...
